Monday has come again and they always seem to be a little hectic especially as we move into the Holiday season. In today's video I am going to challenge you to engage your senses to become more mindful. By using the 5-4-3-2-1 method you engage each of your senses to anchor yourself in the present moment. By doing so, you learn to be mindful, present and engage in the here and now. During this moment there is no things which might be in the future nor things which were in the past. There is only the now and what you are experiencing at this very moment.
5-4-3-2-1 method
Working backward from 5, use your senses to list things you notice around you. For example, you might start by listing:
5 things you hear
4 things you see
3 things you can touch from where you’re sitting
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste
Make an effort to notice the little things you might not always pay attention to, such as the color of the flecks in the carpet or the hum of your computer.
This method can be used at any time day or night when you need a moment to re-center and come back to the present. Please give it a try and let me know how it worked for you!
